Meet the "Fun Fly Stick", which is basically a tiny van der Waals generator packed into a baton-shaped case, accompanied by a "floater" made of thin strips of mylar. Activate the generator and revel in the "magic wand" effect. The principle is simple enough -- it relies on static electricity, the same phenomenon that makes your hair stick up when you take off a garment made of synthetic fibers (thermolactyl t-shirts are the best, if you turn off the lights you can actually see crackling electric discharges).
